Company drops Sania from ad campaign due to revealing dress

This is the latest news about Sania Mirza. Her 'revealing' dress has again become an issue. And it has not come from any Islamic seminary in the form of fatwa or any advocate approaching the Indian court.

The Muslim owned Malabar Gold group has decided to drop the 'Sania Exclusive range' because of the 'indecent dress'. Apparently the company wanted her to also appear dressed in Salwar Kamiz and Sari but the Hyderabadi girl refused.

The company that has a huge clientele among Muslims in Gulf and South India, was apparently concerned about its own image as well. Probably the company felt that the 'skimpy' dressed wore by the tennis player would offend 'traditionalist' customers in Arab.

Meanwhile, check the photo gallery of Sania Mirza at the website Supersania.com

Sania's best performance at Wimbledon

Though Sania failed to get past the second round in the singles, she did manage to reach the quarter finals in the doubles category at the Wimbledon this year.

Partnering with Bethanie Mattek of United States, she gave her best performance, so far at the Wimbledon. The 13th seed Indo-American pair lost (4-6, 3-6) to 11th seeded celebrity pair of Serene Williams and Venus Williams.

Earlier, she had crashed out of singles and mixed doubles in the second round. Mahesh Bhupathi was her partner in the Mixed Doubles. However, her relative success in reaching to the quarter finals, gives hope regarding better future prospects in coming years.

Adidas to launch Sania Mirza apparel range

Sania Mirza has been out of action and is not playing the French open due to her wrist injury, but that hardly matters in the world of tennis, as Adidas, the leading sports apparel brand is all set to launch an entire range of Sania Mirza collection.

It is going to be a rare occasion as no tennis star was chosen for such a brand promotion until now and she is the second sportsperson after Soccer star David Beckham.
The whole range will have sports attire, tennis accessories, tennis equipment and other paraphernalia that will be named after the sensational Indian star who has taken the tennis world by storm.

Though Sania hasn't made any major gains in her career, her rising popularity across the world especially across Indian communities world wide, in Asia and Muslim countries has prompted the company to go for her.

Sania is already a brand ambassador for the company. This range would be rolled out within eight months, sources say. Undoubtedly, the Hyderabadi girl has scintillated the world of tennis, with her attitude, style and glamour quotient.
