Sania Bhupathi get close!

It needed just a photo and the tongues are wagging. The picture in the left shows Sania hug Bhupati during the course of the match.

So what's the hell so special about it. Don't tennis players hug. Sania remains the fixation of Indian media and the photo was taken when the couple got ecstatic after their semi-final win in the Australian open mixed doubles and stormed into the finals.

Though they later lost, their chemistry was already a talk of the town. Sports magazines and gossip-mongers are speculating that something is really cooking!
Is it simple sporting cameraderie or something more. Sania has learnt a lot from Bhupathi in the past. Her every move remains under intense media scrutiny. Recently she was linked to Shahid Kapoor. Meanwhile, Mirza has moved to the 29th place in WTA rankings and now she is No. 1 Asian Women's Player. No mean achievement.

Sania Mirza: Saturday Special Photo

The photo on the left says it all. Sania is exhausted, made a valiant effort and displayed a fine performance.

But eventually lost to Venus Williams in the third round of the Australian Open.

She lost 6-7, 6-4 in a match that stretch to well over 1-1/2 hrs. In the first set Sania was leading 5-4 and later lost it in the tie-break.

She paid for her unforced errors. Mirza, the 31st ranked Indian star, later said that she was the 'worst server' in the world.

Her serve really did her in. The 21-year-old was naturally disappointed but she should take heart that she didn't gift away the match to Venus. The expressions on the face say it all. 'Didn't I do my best but that was not my day'.

Flag Controversy: High Court steps in, Stops lower court from hearing case

Sania Mirza has got a relief from the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, which took suo moto cognizance of the controversy after a person filed a complaint in lower court against tennis star.

The MP High Court at Jabalpur directed the lower court to stop hearing the case. Earlier one, Prakash Thakur, had approached the district court and filed the case. He showed the photograph of Sania Mirza published in newspapers, to prove that she had her feet pointed in the direction of national flag.

The court had even accepted the petition and taken the case and registered it under the National Honour Act. Thhe date of next hearing was fixed. But High Court took cognisance and Chief Justice asked single-judge bench of Rakesh Saxena to look into the matter.

The court was apparently concerned over the complaints by persons whose aim is to seek publicity for themselves by dragging superstars in the courts.

The local court had earlier asked Sania to present herself in the court of CJM Ajay Shrivastava. But after CJI AK Patnaik's directions the records of case were called to Jabalpur and the single judge bench stopped the lower court from hearing the case.

Owing to such cases Sania Mirza had said that she briefly considered quitting the game due to these controversies. It is said that the photograph was a camera trick. Sania can now concentrate on her game, thans to Court that came to her rescue.

Women's Lathi Brigade for Sania's support on Tricolour issue

Women hit the streets of Bhopal on Wednesday. They expressed their solidarity with Sania Mirza and threatened to teach a lesson to anybody who would create problems for Tennis star.

The Baton Brigade was angry with those who watch every move of Sania and then seek publicity for themselves by creating a controversy around her. "Even in the past incidents of disrespect to national flag have happened and flags were found torn apart of flown upside down but what action was taken?", they demnded.

The Lathi carrying women said that the aim of the lawyes who register case against Sania is to harass her. "She has brougth laurels to India and a camera trick is employed to put blame on her", said Rajni Ravte, president of the Brigade.

"Even if she had made a mistake, she should have been warned and forgiven", she said. "Sania has unfurled national flag across the world and brought respect for the country". "We are with her and those hounding her will face serious consquences", she warned.

The person Prakash Kumar who had filed the case said that he would not comment as the matter was with the court. "But if they have come up in her support, I will also have hundreds who will take on them, for the sake of national honour and prestige".

Sania dated Shahid Kapoor

For long there were speculations whether Sania was interested in any guy. Recently there were reports that she was going around with Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor.

Now it has been confirmed that she did date him. Shahid is the son of film actor Pankaj Kapoor and TV actress Neelima Azeem. He accepted the news about the 'dating'. Of course, he didn't tell journos whether it went beyond dinner date or just having food together.

For long she has been too much focused on her tennis and rubbishing reports that she was interested in any guy. But seems unlikely that it will go a long way. Kareena had dumped Shahid and he has also been dating Amrita Rao and another actress Vidya Balan these days.

Eyewitnesses had seen them going along well and said that Sania-Shahid looked like a couple,s spending 2 hrs together at a suburban five star hotel in Mumbai. It seems Daddy Imran Mirza has given his daughter the freedom to find out a suitable guy for herself. Let's see who is going to be her next date!

Photo showing Sania's feet towards Indian flag

On the left is the photograph that led to the controversy. It shows Sania's feet towards the flag.
Can it be trick photography. Is the distance between her legs much more than visible in photo and the camera has taken the snap from an angle that the illusion is created.
We don't know. Photographers say that it is not easy to give a judgment. But aren't we harsh on Sania. The publicity seekers hound such celebrities as they get their names splashed for dragging people to court. But if Sania has really made the mistake, she should apologise.

Now case against Sania Mirza in Bhopal court

Tennis sensation Sania Mirza is again in trouble. This time it is a Bhopal court that has called her in a case of insult to national flag.

In a photo that was published in newspapers recently, Sania Mirza was shown with her feet towards the national flag.

Though it was not clear whether she really had her feet in the direction or flag or it was the angle of photographer that made it appear that she was insulting the tricolour.

But a person approached the court and filed a case against her. Now she has been asked to appear in the court next week.

Sania Mirza remains in the news for good or bad reasons. Earlier, it was the issue of her entering a mosque that caused controversy.

A case was filed against her then also. But Sania has also protested when the national flag was not hoisted properly at a tennis tournament abroad a year ago.

Unfortunately that's the price a celebrity has to pay.
